Chamonix

At the bottom of Mont Blanc lies with Chamonix one of the most spectacular, most active and, despite all the action, most beautiful centres of the French alps.

So far we have actually never been to Chamonix in Winter, as Chamonix is for us the perfect one-day-trip from La Tzoumaz. Not because of the spectacular view of the Mont Blanc, not because of the uncountable paraglider there, we counted actually yesterday over 20, or the beautiful golf course. No, we come because of the weekly market on Saturdays.

What a feast for friends of cheese, ham, salami and local specialties from the region.

From the chalet it is a 75 km ride to Chamonix. Via Martigny up to the Col de la Forclaz, down into the always remote looking valley of Trient. Passing the base station of Lac de Emmosson, you reach the French boarder. From there it is only 17 km through beatiful landscape and old villages in a style like only the French alps can offer.

The weekly market is a festival for your senses. Chees, ham, salami, vegetables and fruits from the region. Additionally wine, nuts and honey.

And should you not be able to come on a Saturday – no worries. On Main Street you will find many shops offering more or less the same offers throughout the week.
